AFRICAN JOURNEY: This project used SABS™ to create animal enclosures, viewing rooms, and rockwork for an addition to the Ft. Wayne Zoo called “The African Journey.” All structures were created using a process were scale models are scanned in 3D, loaded into computer software and engineered. This project was completed in freezing Ft. Wayne temperatures.
KENYA GET WET: This is a water park built in the center of the Reed Park Zoo. This small structure elected to use SABS™ because of its superior durability in wet environments.
WILD LIFE EXPERIENCE: This rockwork was built indoors for a museum. It features a waterfall and walk through cave. This was produced by scanning scale 3D models and importing them into computer engineering software. These models are also used in the production and carving of the rockwork shapes.
MAKE IT RIGHT: This is a single family home built to rise with potential flood waters for the “Make it Right Foundation”. The raft of this house was built using SABS™ composite material. This raft included all water and electrical systems along with some partial walls. This raft was built at UCLA campus in Los Angeles California and then shipped then to 9th ward in Louisiana.
WISE HOUSE: This is a custom single family home with a large clear story over the main living area. This house was built with the help of the owners to erect the majority of the EPS. The home owners also helped in finishing the GFRC during the spraying application.
TURTLE PLAYGROUND: This is park equipment made by SCA in Phoenix for a park in L.A. This was a very unique shaped object. It was first drafted in 3D and engineered. Then to produce this shape out of EPS it was first dissected into layers. After the rough shape was completed to get the curvature of the opening, Strata projected the shape of the holes over the shell. In the end, this unique object was built to exact engineering specifications. (No flash gallery available)
HIDDEN HILLS HOUSE: First full-scale SABS™ home. Building space is a 3300 sq. ft. residential structure. (No flash gallery available)
GOLF CLUB MAINTENANCE BUILDING: This is a 6,700 SF building used for maintenance of a golf club. This building featured 40′ clear spans and 25′ tall elevations. This building was able to span the lengths without using anything but the SABS™ composite system. (No flash gallery available)
